Chains

I'm on the inside looking out at the freedom I once had from behind the bars I built with my own hands.
I curse these walls of slavery though I built them brick by brick thinking I would trade a thrill for their demands.
What hurts me most of all now that I'm in my right mind is that I think I walked into here willingly.
Jesus, can you break me out? 'Cause I've locked the door and thrown away the key.

I walked away, thinking you had tied me down; Now I find that freedom only comes from you.
If it's not too late, maybe you could take me back and liberate from this hell within.

Take these chains. Set me free.

People pass me day by day and I notice they don't wear all the chains that have become a part of me.

The days grow dark as I recall it's not so long ago that I walked along with them and I way free.
Help me 'cause I'm sinking fast and I'm treading water in the lonely sea.

I walked away, thinking you had tied me down; Now I find that freedom only comes from you.
If it's not too late, maybe you could take me back and liberate from this hell within.

Take these chains. Set me free.
